Requirements for a marriage license issued by
Nemaha County Clerk’s office:
The fee for a marriage license is $25.00 (cash, check or
credit card accepted).
One form of identification is required, such as a government
issued photo ID, driver’s license or passport.
Photo ID – A photo ID or driver’s license, including
CDL’s, learner permits and provisional operator permit,
which contains the name and date of birth along with
recognizable photograph. License or ID must not be mutilated
or altered and signatures must match applicant’s.
Passport – An U.S. passport or foreign passport, which
contains your name, date of birth and recognizable
photograph.
Social Security Number of both applicants. Applicants
who do not have a Social Security Number must complete an
affidavit, provided by the County Clerk, verifying they do not
have a Social Security Number.
Applicants must supply the names of their parents, including
mother’s maiden name, and their parent’s birthplace (City and
State or foreign country).
If either applicant is not of legal age (19), a notarized
consent form must be signed by the applicant’s father, mother,
legal guardian or custodian, giving consent to the marriage of
the minor. If the individual giving consent is a legal
guardian or custodian, appropriate paperwork must be presented
showing this relationship to the minor.
IF EITHER APPLICANT IS UNDER 17 YEARS OF AGE, A LICENSE WILL NOT
BE ISSUED.
The marriage license is valid for one year from the date of
issuance. A marriage license issued in one county in Nebraska
can be used (is valid) in any county in Nebraska. To be
married in Nebraska, the marriage license must be issued in
Nebraska.
There is no waiting period for a marriage license.
All marriage licenses obtained in Nebraska are public
record.
