DEPUTY DISTRICT COURT CLERK

JOB DESCRIPTION - The Deputy District Court Clerk assists the District Court Clerk with various clerical duties in the court office. The deputy is given authority to perform duties as required by the Court Clerk in her absence. Due to the sensitive nature of the work environment, a high degree of confidentiality is required.

DUTIES - The basic duties of this position include interaction with the public both in person and on the telephone. Routine clerical duties including filing, receipting, and general computer skills are required. The ability to work with a diverse clientele is necessary.

  1. Process court documents - File stamp, enter information onto statewide Justice database, provide copies for attorneys and public, file and journalize, organize and update court calendar.
  2. Assist District Court Judge and Bailiff - coordinate court calendar and judge's schedule, submit orders for Judge's approval and signature, certify accuracy of payment records, any other projects as needed.
  3. Interact with public - accept payments, process bond refunds, provide copies of documents, refer to appropriate agencies.
  4. Accept passports - assist with completion of application, accept payment, 5. Jury- maintain current jury list for District and County Court, mail jury summons for trials, assist with jury selection and jury reports

Qualifications - General office skills, knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and database applications, ability to interact with the public, other courthouse personnel, attorneys, and law enforcement, possess a sense of humor while maintaining a degree of professionalism and organization skills.
